Writer's Guidelines
Welcome, www.urbangirlz.org provides a forum to celebrate, inform and encourage girls and teens of color.
We welcome articles, stories and features that coincide with our goals to impact girls and teens. The following
guidelines are specifically designed for Urbangirlz.org feature writers and columnist. Below is a schedule of
editorial dates and the preferred method of submission.
Mission Statement
The mission of www.urbangirlz.org is to provide a forum for girls and teens of color to be celebrated, informed
and inspired.
Statement of Philosophy
Inform - Clearly identify and present current and accurate information about a subject relevant to girls and
teens of color.
Encourage - Provide testimonies or life stories that will uplift girls and teens of color and motivate them to
pursue their education or some other life changing and positive goal.
Celebrate - The accomplishments of girls and teens of color.
Submission
Submissions requirements are as follows:
1. 300-600 word feature article.
2. Send via e-mail to: cdudley@urbangirlz.org or mail to the Editorial Department at P.O. Box 3641, Cedar
Hill, Texas 75106-4021.
3. If using photos, include as an attachment to the article, photos must be submitted as a jpeg file.
4. Contact information: name, mailing, e-mail, telephone, fax#.
5. A biographical expert as would appear on www.urbangirlz.org and photo.
NOTE: No submitted materials will be returned. Do not send originals. Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for a
response.
Editorial Timeline
Website updates are completed by the 15th of each month. Submissions must turned in 4 to 6 weeks in
advance to assure inclusion on the website. If you have any questions, contact info@urbangirlz.org.
